Wording Bias

Wording bias is a type of bias where respondents are given questions that influence them in a particular direction. This may be through leading questions, double-barreled questions, or through the introduction of highly-charged vocabulary. It can be either intentional or unintentional on the part of the researcher.

For instance, in a survey on office workers with families, the question, ‘Do you mind putting some extra time in every now and then to support the company?’ will receive more positive responses than the question “Are you okay with missing evening family time to do overtime on the job?’
